Crystals Associated with Sleep and Dreams

Nightmares are common among children. We as adults also get them. Stress, illnesses, traumatic experiences, troubled relationships, medications, emotional turmoil and other events and issues can factor into nightmares.

Sometimes, we just can’t “turn off” our minds to fall asleep. We’re thinking, planning, going around and around the aspects of our lives, our relationships, our homes, our health, our work and other matters. We’re going over conversations in our mind and thinking about what we “should” have said. We’re worried about what the future may hold.

Many of us have trouble remembering our dreams – some even claim that they don’t dream. The fact is, we all dream during a type of sleep called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. REM sleep occurs every 90 to 100 minutes, 3 to 4 times each night, and lasts longer as the night progresses. The final REM period may last as long as 45 minutes. If it pleases you, you can determine before going to sleep each night that you will train yourself to be aware that you are dreaming – and perhaps be able to control your dreams.

Here are some crystals that are associated with better sleep and dreams.

Agate is for strength and protection from bad dreams. This bright gemstone also is said to protect from stress and energy drains. Agate has been used in jewelry since antiquity. An agate with banded colors placed at the head of of your bed is said to give rich and varied dreams.

One of my favorite stones is malachite – an opaque, green banded mineral. It is believed to work on your emotions, stimulating inner imagery, and making your dreams, imagination and memories seem more alive and real. A piece of Malachite in your bedroom is believed to help ward off nightmares.

Chrysoprase is believed to alleviate recurring nightmares, particularly for children. This pretty green stone can help to make conscious what was unconscious. It strengthens the workings of insight and the higher consciousness.

★ Lucid Dreaming ★

Scolecite is said to promote inner peace and deep relaxation. It can be an excellent aid to meditation. Scolecite, which you can find in colors of white, pink, salmon, red and green, can help you to realize subtle messages from your inner self and from higher sources. Use it in your bedroom to enhance the dream state, facilitating dream recall, lucid dreaming and restful sleep.

Beautiful, iridescent labradorite can help to reveal our real goals and intentions so that we clearly see their real shape. This mineral is said to stimulate the imagination – a boon to daydreamers! Labradorite is a power stone, which allows you to see through illusions and determine the actual form of your dreams and goals. It is useful for strengthening your intuition.

Danburite – which ranges from colorless to white, straw yellow, brownish white and gray – is considered to be a spiritual stone that carries a pure vibration. It is excellent for relieving stress and worry. Hold a piece of danburite in each hand and breathe slowly and deeply for a calming effect and to prepare for deep meditation. Danburite is said to promote restful sleep and lucid dreaming. It is credited with promoting angelic communication, stimulating the heart chakra, helping to open you to the Divine Source and cleansing your karma.

★ Higher Awareness During Dreams or Meditation ★

Amethyst is a power stone, which is used as a dream stone and to help insomnia. The Ancient Egyptians used amethyst as a guard against fearful or guilty feelings. Place an amethyst under your pillow to bring about pleasant dreams, or rub it across your forehead to offer relief from a headache. Wear this stone as protection from self-deception, as well as a protection against witchcraft (as if you need it!). Use this beautiful crystal – which you can find in shades of violet, purple, lilac and mauve – to open the spiritual and psychic centers, making it one of the power stones. It is also used as a meditation aid when worn as a necklace.

Tiger Eye
Tiger Eye – a golden to red-brown gemstone – allows you to see everything. Use it for insight, to attract good luck, to ensure protection and to bring clear thinking and insight. Tiger eye is considered to be more a stone for the mind, not the body. Use it to help focus your mind. Use it to bring about a feeling of oneness and help you to feel more direct in all thoughts, and to be more aware of your own needs related to the needs of others.

Seraphinite is a trade name for a particular form of clinochlore. The stone acquired its name due to its resemblance to feathers, such as you might find on a bird’s wing. With some specimens the resemblance is quite strong, with shorter down-like feathery growths leading into longer “flight feathers.” The resemblance even spurs fanciful marketing phrases like “silver plume seraphinite.” Use this stone to help establish connections with the angelic realm. It carries the vibrations of a greater awareness of the Divine Feminine. Seraphinite is credited with the restoration of health and balance and with encouraging living from the heart

Celestine or Celestite
Celestite or celestine is named for its occasional delicate blue color. It is believed to offer a gentle, uplifting energy that will raise your awareness. This is considered to be an effective stone in establishing and maintaining communication with the angelic realm. Place one of these crystals in your bedroom or where you meditate to help cleanse that area. Celestine or celestite is considered to be an elevating crystal that can make you feel as though you are floating on a cloud.
